Mission

Mission

Our goal at Vevivo is to create a unique social space where people can connect with each other through common interests, find their community, and be empowered to have fulfilling social lives.

We also recognize the increasingly wider societal problem that plagues people of all ages and backgrounds: loneliness. Somehow, we live in a society that’s more connected than ever, and yet we feel more and more alone. That’s not right.

Among our interests is basketball!
Enjoy a board game session with friends or people who share the same passion as you!

The recent COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated the effects of loneliness and isolation as people have been forced to socially distance themselves from their loved ones, their communities, and the world. The only way to stay connected to the world is through social media—a solid way of keeping in touch with your friends, but not so good for meeting new people. Not to mention that social media tends to polarize people, rather than unite them

Founder's Story

Andreas Koumoudis

Hi, I’m the founder of Vevivo, and this is my origin story. Do you like science fiction? Because I’m crazy about it! I remember watching Blade Runner for the first time and feeling kind of gloomy that I didn’t have someone with whom to discuss the movie. So, I was extremely excited when Blade Runner 2049 was released—I could gather my friends, and we could all go see it together! Unfortunately, they either couldn’t go, or didn’t want to. For the first time in my life, I went to the movies by myself. To my surprise, I wasn’t the only person sitting alone. I suppose their friends bailed on them, too. 😅

The experience bothered me. I started thinking: How do you meet people who like the same things you do? It’s a problem I’ve had to deal with over and over again throughout my life. After I graduated from high school, I joined the army and lost touch with my school friends. I made some new friends during my service, but before I knew it, my service was over and I had traveled to the US to start my undergraduate degree. Again, I was thrust into an environment where I didn’t know anyone; the culture was entirely different, and my lack of friends took a toll on my mental well-being. No fort is impregnable after a prolonged siege. After a couple of years in the US, I transferred to the UK, where I studied journalism, and the cycle repeated itself.

I have experienced loneliness firsthand. I understand the difficulty of finding like-minded people. And I’m fed up with going to the movies alone. After returning to Cyprus from the UK, I finally asked myself, “How would I like to meet new people?”
